Nope you are not! I am notorious for having SEVERAL books at once hidden all over our bathroom! Right now the “bathroom” books are Civilization:Vol 1 Pagan , Sociology (text book), and Western Civ. My husband cannot believe that I will honestly sit there reading! We have 4.5 cats and a dog along with husband and the bathroom is probably the one place I can be alone…of course I open the door and they are right there (husband too ) WAITING!

Am I really the only woman who reads in the bathroom, or just the only one interested in manliness? I started when my children were small and struggling with the concept of privacy. Peace and quiet were out of the question. They’re teens now, but I still enjoy a quick editorial or Dear Abby column during a visit to the loo.

I don’t get reading on the john. Seriously, a man’s trip to the bathroom should be like his trip to the mall–get in, get out, and be done with it. If you have the time to read more than a page, you need to eat more fiber, drink more coffee, or run more.

I normally use my cell phone to read anything interesting in my google reader. It’s so much easier to handle than paper but I’m deathly scared of dropping it in considering how many times I’ve dropped my previous phone in water

I’m thinking of using it to memorize bible verses. Memorization is something that slips unless it’s practised regularly, so if you’re doing a one-a-week memory verse (or poetry, or study notes if you’re a student for example) it’s good to refresh your memory while refreshing yourself.

If you don’t mind me talking sh*t for a minute, It’s also worth noting that having to spend a long time on the bog can be related to not drinking enough water, or having enough fibre or fruit in your diet. Healthy dudes should be a minute or two, most of the time. It’s good to have a bit of personal retreat space, but don’t give yourself haemorrhoids because you like to read, and therefore think it’s normal to take 20 minutes to drop the kids off at the pool.

I made a resolution this year to read at least one book a month, and I’ve gotten through most of them on the toilet! I usually read random books I hear about, or that friends suggest, mostly fiction with oddball characters in a somewhat real-life situation.

Currently, I am reading A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole.
