@Uncle Buzz

If you were that close to the USMC lanyard, I predict a slight change in your workout routine that will ensure you don't miss your next opportunity.

I salute your fitness. Sadly, I couldn't come close to your 14.75 despite my age advantage. Maybe I need to change that.

Yep, the fair was a good time. Believe it or not, the cliental was much more cultivated at a Vermont fair. If I squinted a little, I may have thought that we had stumbled into the Renaissance Faire happening at the same time. They had deep fried pickles during the Middle Ages, didnt they?

I like Chris's quote from his fiance. Reminds me of what a friend of mine once said: "I love going to Wal-mart, it makes me feel like a superstar!"

Brett, take heart. You outweigh me by 50lbs, and it's not blubber. If I strapped a 50lb sandbag to my chest and tried to do pull ups, it wouldnt be pretty. Pull-ups are all about body weight. I'm forever going to regret only being able to do 14 3/4, and not getting to earn the coveted USMC lanyard for doing 15. But I got to eye level with the bar on that last one, and "that's all she wrote, and there ain't no more."

Speaking of unhealthy foods, I brought back a mess o' Moon Pies to VT to share with my co-workers at an upcoming staff meeting. Can't get 'em up North here. (Of course, they'd be better washed down with RC Cola, but those dang airline rules precluded that.) My PC co-workers will sneer at the Moon Pies, but "reluctantly" scarf 'em down, just you wait!

Another Tulsa? That's cool. We took our kids last week to the fair and one of the rides they were one was next to the half-lady and half-snake booth. My daughter (who is 6) thought it was real and wanted to go into the booth. I explained how it was all fake and a little more innocence went away.

Still I wonder what was in the cage. Anyone check it out?

Hey, thanks for giving props to my "life after college" post. One thing: It's lifehack.org, not lifehacks.org -- the plural one seems to have stopped development back in 2004...

Now, I'm gonna check out some of those other links. I'm dying to know if I'm a porn addict!!

@ Chris and Jeremy- Thanks for the kind words. We try our best to put some useful and entertaining information out there. We're glad you all enjoy it.

@ Chris and Mark-Would you guys be interested in an OK meetup? I'd love to meet the AoM crew face to face and shoot the breeze.

How very odd. I've been reading for a while and somehow never noticed that you also were in Tulsa.

We're headed to the fair today. What a small world

It's good to see that I was not the only one who had a time for unhealthy food at a fair for the weekend. The Fair was in town for my neck of the woods as well. Maybe with time you can get another whack and beat Uncle Buzz.

To echo the above sentiments:

Thanks for putting out some excellent content out there and inspiring me to write my own to help those who I associate with on a daily basis. I have been keeping track on facebook recently and added you on Twitter. Keep up the good work. Anything in the archives about maintaining your 'Manliness' in a female dominated world? *lol*

I'm convinced now that I need to get on Twitter, because I'm sure I would have seen a Tweet that you would have broadcasted that you were at the State Fair right about the same time I was. I would have enjoyed getting to meet you in person, shake your hand, and heartily thank you for creating one of THE best sites around for men of our generation.
Accolades aside, I love going to the Fair. However, it's not for the rides, the deep-fried Twinkies, or the Snake Girl (wow, um, okay...).
I go to observe the people.
All shapes, all sizes, all classes, they come from near and far. You will never see a more colorful mix than when you attend a fair.
Some quotes from my fiancee that I found humorous:
"Coming to the fair makes me really thankful for you." (What? Do I not blend in?)
"So what's with the skinny little guys and the really big women?" (That did make me consider the dynamic that is occurring there.)
Congratulations on finding the Marine Corps Pullup Challenge; I was looking for that myself but never ran across it.
We had a great time, but I am relieved that the Fair is only once a year.
Thanks for all the great content, Brett. Keep it up.
