The weekend for is me to catch up with my wife after a hard week at work for the both of us. After sleeping in a little bit, we make sure to spend some time together and then catch up with friends in between doing any shopping or errands we may need to complete.

One of my favorite things to do one weekend a month is to invite our friends to come over with their favorite side dish, and then fire up the grill with a large roast of beef or pork. Family, friends, good food, laughter and lively discussion... what better way to recharge?

My weekend is the catch-all to my week. If I have extra work, it filters out and gets cleaned up during the weekend. More often than not though, my weekend catches all the socializing I missed out during the week, which means I'll go out with friends, see a movie, or go bowling.

My weekend always catches sleep.

Weekends are about the family. My wife and I adopted two boys from Ukraine 3 years ago and they keep the weekends busy. The boys are now 8 & 12 and both are active in sports thru the year and Scouting.

Both the sports & especially the Scouting are ways to help develop them into decent men. The weekends are for going to their games/practices, camping, hiking, working in the yard and keeping very active.

As the dad, I like to kick back a little bit and a fine shirt like that would be very fitting at our cookouts/bonfires at the house. Or even just lounging in the hammock reading a book.

Love the website.

These days I've been pruning my mustache, in an unsuccessful attempt to downplay my ruggedness. I also enjoy bowling, but only because there are no lions or bears to wrestle in the vicinity. In the evenings I drink and converse with the locals, so as to learn better the language and the culture, while my food of choice is anything meaty and extra spicy. I can usually find time to read on the weekends. As of late I've been interested in survival stories, such as that of Capt. Ernest Shackleton and his crew of 27, left to fend for themselves on the Antarctic seas for 22 months after their ship was crushed by ice. If I have enough manergy left at the end of the weekend, I like to watch violent movies full of bloodshed and mayhem.

The weekend in our house is Satur-daddy-day (this amounts to a fair amount of wrestling, giving mom a few hours of silent house, etc.) and a quiet Sunday (with Mass and pre-school catechism -- and, of course, watching football with the boy where we still define the 'good guys' by color of jersey).

O the weekends I catch up on the home repairs and teaching my boys the things I know. They're so busy during the week with school, marching band, sports practices and other activities that we usually see each other in passing. I reserve the weekends for them to make sure we're still connected in a very significant way.

I am an assistant football coach for 12-15 year old boys, so I spend the weekends at football games. I also attend my other son's soccer games. If I get home in time, I spend the rest of the day watching college or pro football.

Weekends up here in Alaska are for watching the Russians (which we can see from our back yard), catching up on yardwork - except when it snows, like today, breakfast football (4 hour time zone difference sometimes lets us watch a little football while we eat our Wheaties) or catching a great concert like we did with the Duhks last night.

Recently a lot of time has been spent at church on repair and painting projects. First Saturdays is men's group time where we have breakfast (eggs, potatoes and moose sausage) and then on to the fixit list.

Typically my weekends are busy with chauffering my teenage daughters around town and fulfilling my ministry duties and preparations. However this weekend my daughters were attending a youth conference in Ranch Cucamonga and my wife, who usually works weekends, had the weekend off, so she and I went to dinner friday night, sleeped in late Saturday morning, went to the movies (FireProof - fantastic film, good message) then went to the beach and enjoyed a warming bonfire. It was the first real alone time we've had for several months (we work opposing shifts and days off). The only thing that would have made a great weekend PERFECT would have been if I was wearing one of these the gorgeous Hawaiiaberas (XXL) with my new Cuban Chancletas that I picked up this summer on my missionary trip to Sancti Spirutus, Cuba. Keep Surfing da Couch!!!! Who knows maybe it will catch on and become an Olympic Sport. LOL Hang Loose and Go fo' Broke braddah!

The weekend is the only time of the week where I usually don't have anything scheduled or planned. My week is usually jammed pack so it's nice just to relax. I usually go out to dinner and try to cook something new on sunday nights.

Weekends are for catching up. Preferably fishing or hunting when in season. Other wise horse back riding and hopefully on Sunday watching a NASCAR race and /or a football game or 2 and of course maybe having a gathering of friends over for maybe a bon fire and cook out. Then of course there are always chores to attend to.....lawn to be mowed and so on......

The wife and I enjoy walking on the beach Saturdays and/or Sunday. It is a perfect to decompress from the stresses of the past work week. It also gives us lots of time to communicate.

What always amazes me is we intend to spend an hour walking but usually spend at 2-3 hours. Nothing like leaving the stress of modern life behind.
