I frequently return to the 5X5 program, however, simply because it is so simple, satisfying, and effective. Adding weight every workout isn't silly, it's effective. I get great results when I use it.I also like to promote the Strong Lifts program on this site because it is so simple and accessible. For readers who don't have a lot of experience with weightlifting, it's a great place to dive in and begin.But thanks for sharing the t-nation link, it is a good site for our readers to check out for advice.

@Adam-

I often change-up my workout and I have actually been to t-nation to get ideas when I do that. I suggest since you've ran this beginner program before, you check out their articles. Most articles outline what you need to know to come up with your own program, while some outline a program as well.In my opinion, this 5x5 is asking for over-training. There are so many more ways to progress without adding weight every workout, which is just silly!

There’s lots of great articles on t-nation.com. I'm also trying to do the sets using HIT principles. You really feel the change your body has to go through to accommodate to this type of workout. I'm completely worn out after a 45 minutes workout and usually feel like needing an hour to recuperate on the couch. Not to mention noticing the extra sleep my body needs to really recover well.I usually switch workout schemes one every 4 to 6 weeks to prevent the muscles from becoming to efficient.

I started the 5×5 workout this week after reading a magazine.
